Joel’s work blends sharp graphics of familiar forms with rich color fields, texture mand abstract geometrics. Working with acrylic, oil pastels, and mixed media collage, he draws on the urban environment and mixes it with natural form and a color pallet of clean blues, rich reds, taupes and browns that border on earthy. Despite his long history of producing art, Joel had taken years off to focus on his music, briefly running a record label, and touring Europe and the US with several music projects he was involved with. However, he’s scaled back his involvement with the music scene and turning his attention back to his art career.
